Recruiting Reset: Quarterbacks

Arizona has seen some quarterback targets commit elsewhere this week. Read on for a closer look at the current targets and more.

With there being some movement on the recruiting board, now is a good time to look at each position that Arizona is recruiting, starting with quarterbacks.

Zack Darlington: At this point, other schools seem more likely for Darlington, although Arizona continues to recruit him. Nebraska and Ohio State are doing well for him and he has scheduled visits to both. Arizona will work to get Darlington on campus, but it obviously needs to get him there sooner than later if he continues to visit other schools. We won't rule Arizona out, but it looks as if it will be difficult at this point.

D.J. Gillins: Arizona is in Gillins' top five and seems to be in good shape for a visit. Wisconsin recently offered and the Badgers are doing well, but Arizona has been recruiting Gillins longer and he is on record as saying that he likes how he fits in with what Arizona runs. Gillins is planning to make numerous visits and although Arizona is not on the list, one to Tucson seems likely. He is in no rush to make a decision and we expect Arizona to remain in the thick of things.

Treon Harris: Harris is considered to be one of the best corners in the nation, but he also plays quarterback and that is where Arizona wants him. It seems to be paying off, as Harris likes Arizona and not many other schools seem to be offering the same opportunity. Florida State and Miami have made Harris a priority and it could be difficult to get him to leave the state, but Harris wants to visit Arizona this summer and that could play a big part in things.

Cade Apsay: Apsay recently visited Arizona and the word is that the signal caller continues to have the Wildcats as one of his favorites. He is taking his time with a decision, but also hitting the camp circuit in hopes of getting more offers. If Apsay wants to decide early, Arizona has a good shot to be his pick. If not, his recruitment could take some more turns, especially if other schools offer.

Marcus McMaryion: McMaryion was at Arizona this past weekend and came away with Arizona as one of his leaders. He does not seem to be anywhere close to a decision and Washington is right there with Arizona right now. McMaryion wants to take more visits and then look at his recruitment again, but it seems that Arizona is likely to be one of his finalists.

JaJuan Lawson: Lawson is visiting Arizona this week and we should know more about his recruitment when it is over. The Wildcats are recruiting him as a quarterback and others want him as more of an athlete. There are likely guys on Arizona's board that are better quarterbacks, but Lawson is a good enough athlete where Arizona might decide to take him if he wanted to commit soon. However, that really is not an issue right now, because Lawson has numerous visits this summer.
