On Wednesday afternoon, Arizona extended a scholarship offer to Hialeah (Fla.) Senior quarterback Alin Edouard.
"Arizona just offered me earlier today and it was just a great feeling," Edouard said. "It's a great honor that they would tell me that they want me to go to their school."
The offer was a shock to the 6-foot-2 quarterback because it was the first day that he had been in contact with the Wildcats.
"My coach at school told me that I should look into Arizona because they run the same kind of offense that we do," he said. "This morning, I looked up their athletics page and checked out the coaches. I found some of them on Facebook and sent them a few messages.
"Later on in the day, I called Coach Calvin Magee and Coach Rod Smith. We talked for a few hours. I showed them some of my highlights online. They really liked me and offered me. It's really exciting and crazy."
Edouard committed to Miami in early February, but admitted later in the month that his decision could only be temporary.
"I'm committed, but it's a soft commit," he told Cusenation.com. "I'm still wide open. I have a bunch of offers and I'm just seeing what happens."
On Wednesday night, he reiterated the same sentiment.
"I'm with Miami right now, but I am still open and looking at things," he said. "I need to do what's best for me in my college career and beyond."
Edouard has been looking at schools with spread offenses in the past weeks. He runs a spread offense at Hialeah Senior High School and believes that he would fit right in with the same offense in college.
"The big thing with Arizona is that they run a spread offense," Edouard said. "It's exactly like what we run here at my school.
"I need to be in a situation that's best for me and fits me the best. I am good at running the spread offense and that's what could be best for me."
The Wildcats aren't the only ones that have Edouard's interest. The 180-pound quarterback has also been researching Louisville.
"I have been taking a hard look at Louisville for a while," he said. "They also run a spread offense, which is what I'm looking for. I might go check it out sometime soon."
As far as Arizona goes, Edouard is still taking his time and digesting the events of the day.
"I'm still just a little shocked because I just talked to them today and they offered," he said. "I need to get with my coach and talk about it. I just really don't know about anything else right now."
