Hayes learning about Arizona

JC lineman Luke Hayes continues to look at his recruiting options. Read on to find out where Arizona stands, when he wants to make a decision, and more.

El Dorado (Kan.) Community College offensive lineman Luke Hayes plays for one of the top junior colleges in the country and he also possesses the size that indicates he could step in at any Division-1 school and contribute immediately.

Although Hayes wants to become the best player possible, football isn't his only priority and won't be the determining factor in his college selection.

"Don't get me wrong I want a coach who will coach me up and help mold me into the best player I can be, but I also want the coach to push me academically." Hayes said.

"A lot of guys go into a major school just thinking about football, but academics is just as important to me, so a place that emphasizes academics definitely matters."

The UA coaching staff is trying to sell Hayes on the positives of the school.

"The Arizona coaches say it's a great place and they also said they liked my tape and that they liked the way I moved," Hayes said. "They felt I took advantage of my size and that I finished off my plays well.

"It was good to hear the kind words from them, but right now we're just developing a relationship. I know they would like me to get out there, so we will see what happens with that."

Arizona fans shouldn't expect a visit anytime soon.

"I don't have any visits scheduled yet," Hayes said. "Honestly, I'm probably not going to go on visits here anytime soon.

"If I had to guess, I would imagine I will take my visits in November and then come up with a decision sometime around the bowl game."
