Cobb impressed on visit

Arizona was recently visited by linebacker Jamardre Cobb. Read on to find out how the visit went, where the Wildcats stand, and more.

For some recruits, the summer is a time to end their recruitment and choose a school. Others see their offers rise during camps and unofficial visits.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Bishop Mora Salesian outside linebacker Jamardre Cobb is one of the players that has impressed in camp workouts and increased his recruiting stock even more.

"My summer has been really good," Cobb said. "There have been some slow points, but it's not too bad." "My recruitment was picking up a bit with the camps, but I'm just focusing on my team now."

The linebacker holds over a dozen offers from across the country, but has just a handful of schools that are recruiting him the hardest.

"Arizona, Arizona State, California, and Miami have been looking at me a lot lately," Cobb said. "They are the ones that I would say are coming after me the hardest right now."

Recently, Cobb took a trip to Tucson to see the Arizona campus. He visited with two of his Salesian teammates, Rodney Carr and Marquis Ware.

"The visit went great and it felt good," he said. "It's a nice campus. I went with my teammates, Marquis and Rodney. It was fun to have them down there with me."

Carr was offered a scholarship by Arizona on the trip. He was the only one of the three without an Arizona offer, but committed the very next day.

"Rodney just committed and that made me feel good about Arizona," Cobb said. "It made me feel good because my friend got the offer and committed the next day because he liked the school.

"It made me think a little bit because I like Arizona, but I never gave much thought to play with Rodney in college. That would be pretty nice."

Cobb got a chance to look around the Arizona campus and see the sights, but he was also able to get a closer look at the new facilities.

"I liked the UA campus a lot," he said. "I like the academics and the football program. The facilities are pretty nice and that's something I'm looking really hard at."

Throughout his recruitment, Cobb has been in contact with Arizona just about every other day. The Wildcats' Recruiting Coordinator, Matt Dudek, has been Cobb's main recruiter.

"I talk to Coach Dudek and he's the one that talks to my coaches as well," Cobb said. "Dudek is a great coach and a really funny guy. I enjoy talking to him."

The linebacker may be making a return trip to the desert shortly. He doesn't plan on making any trips to other colleges in the future, but has July 27th circled for Arizona.

"Another visit to Arizona is possible," Cobb said. "They are opening the new facility on the 27th of July and I could go back down there for that. Nothing is set yet, but it's a pretty good chance." The high school senior won't be making a decision any time soon. He wants to cut his list down shortly and then take some official visits.

"I'm waiting to see if USC and UCLA offer me," he said. "After that, I can cut down my list a little bit and see which schools I am going to take officials to.

"Nobody is really at the top for me right now, but there are a few that are recruiting me pretty hard. I can't really say anything right now until I get closer to making my decision."
