Williams favors Arizona

Fresno lineman Sharif Williams favors Arizona. Read on to see why, when he will decide, and more.

Arizona has already garnered commitments from two highly-regarded players from Fresno (Calif.) Central East and the Wildcat coaching staff is looking to secure a third commitment from another in 6-foot-3, 320-pound defensive tackle Sharif Williams.

"Arizona is the school that I'm most interested in right now," Williams said. "They talk with me all the time and think I'm a perfect for their interior defensive line. They feel I can hold up against the run, but also get after the quarterback, which is what they're looking for."

The Arizona coaching staff has been working to get Williams on campus and, as of now, he is planning to visit at the end of the month.

"They've been on me to get out there to check everything out and I plan on getting out there July 29," he said.

"I'm looking forward to the Arizona visit. I like everything I've heard from the coaches, just want to see the campus and talk with the coaches in person and just see how everything goes."

A couple of other schools also interest Williams at this time.

"Arizona is my leader, but I also like California and they are keeping an eye on me, as is San Diego State," Williams said. "They haven't shown the interest Arizona has, but I like both those schools as well."

Although Arizona leads for Williams, he doesn't plan on deciding until the end of the year.

"I don't want to hurry and make a decision before the season, like some other players do," Williams said. "I want to decide after the season, so I can focus on the year and just see how my recruitment plays out.

"I like all the schools that are recruiting me. I want to take visits, let coaches see how I've improved, and then come up with a decision."
