Dickerson looking at options

Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra 2014 defensive end Matt Dickerson is one of the top players in the west. Read on to see how his recruitment is going, how Arizona is involved, and more.

Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra 2014 defensive end Matt Dickerson plays for the one of the most talented teams on the West Coast and while he isn't the highest rated player on his team, he might possess the most potential, and his college suitors bear that out.

"I've been to Washington and Colorado camps," Dickerson said. "This month I'm going to visit USC and UCLA and in August I will check out Notre Dame and Arkansas.

"It feels great to have so many good schools recruiting me, that's why I'm taking as many visits as possible. I want to check out everyone."

Dickerson has already visited Arizona, but that hasn't stopped the coaches from attempting to get him back on campus.

"I visited Arizona in May and I had a great time," Dickerson said. "The campus was really nice and the coaches seem to have a player friendly program. The Arizona coaches talk to me on a weekly basis and would like me to get back out there.

"My coach played for Coach Rodriguez, so there is a lot of familiarity there and I've been impressed by Coach Rod."

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound lineman doesn't anticipate making a decision anytime soon.

"There really isn't a time I'm looking at that I want to decide by," Dickerson said. "The sooner the better, but this is a major life decision I'm about to make and I will take as much time as needed."

Dickerson is looking at each school's academic reputations as well.

"Academics definitely matter to me and will factor into my decision," Dickerson said. "A lot of kids are just looking at football, but I'm trying to look at my life after football as well."
