Lineman focusing on two

Defensive lineman Edmond Boateng has seen his recruitment pick up. Read on to see the two schools he is focusing on, when he will decide, and more.

One of the weak spots on the Arizona defense is the defensive line and the coaches are looking for players who can make an instant contribution.

Roswell New Mexico Military Institute defensive end Edmond Boateng seems to fit the description, but the UA coaching staff has one other school in its way.

"I like Ole Miss a lot," Boeteng said. "They have really upped their interest in me and it's a school that is pretty good. They are in a major conference and it's a program that is really on the upswing.

"Arizona also interests me. I've been talking with Coach Ragle and we have been developing a pretty good relationship. He's been on me to get down there for awhile and I plan on getting down there in September. I'm not sure what to expect, but I am excited."

Boeteng is going into his visits with an open mind.

"There isn't anything really specific I'm looking for," Boeteng said. "I just want to go to a place where I feel comfortable and a coaching staff that I feel has my best interests at heart."

In addition, Boateng will be looking closely at the majors each school offers.

"I want to major in something to do with Arts," he said. "I'm an artsy kind of guy and I'm always drawing or doing stuff like that. Business is also an option because I could come up with my own art business.

"I've definitely thought about it and that is the avenue I want to pursue. Football and arts are my major passions, so it works out well for me."

Since he is eligible to transfer after the first semester, Boeteng has a specific time frame he is looking at to make a decision.

"I want to decide before December," Boeteng said. "I'm not sure when exactly, but I feel I will have enough information by then to make a quality decision."
