Humphrey excited for Arizona official

Michael Humphrey is one of Arizona's top priorities for 2014. Read on to see what he has to say about his recruitment, Arizona, and more.

This summer there were not many players that saw their stock increase as much as 6-foot-9, 205-pound Phoenix Sunnyslope center Michael Humphrey.

Humphrey went from nearly no offers in late June to having some of the nation's elite, such as Louisville, Indiana, Arizona, and UCLA, banging down his door in mid-July.

After a very hectic June and July, Humphrey finally cut his laundry list of schools down to just five: Arizona, UCLA, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Stanford.

He took his first official visit to Vanderbilt on September 7th-9th and will officially visit with Stanford this weekend followed by Notre Dame on September 28th and UCLA on October 12th. He will finish up with Arizona on October 19th.

Humphrey unofficially visited Arizona on August 12th and says that he thoroughly enjoyed his time there.

"I really liked meeting the coaches and seeing a few of the players like Aaron Gordon, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and T.J. McConnell while I was walking around during my visit."

What stands out most about Arizona for Humphrey are the facilities and his relationship with the coaching staff.

"I feel that I have a very close relationship with all of the coaches on the staff, especially Coach Pasternack," said Humphrey.

When asked what he is most looking forward to on his October 19th official visit to Arizona, Humphrey says he wants a more in-depth look at the school.

"My unofficial went quick," Humphrey says. "I am just looking forward to being on campus when school is actually in session, getting to meet more of the players, and just see more of the campus."

Until then, Humphrey will be a busy man. During football season, he is also the starting quarterback and has led his Sunnyslope Vikings to a perfect 3-0 record this season.

"Football is going great," Humphrey said. "I'm staying healthy and everyone is playing awesome, so that is all that matters."

Humphrey says that he would like to make his final decision on where he will attend school by the early November signing period.

"I want to take all of my official visits and then decide what school I will be attending," he said.
