Staff Predictions: Week Nine

Arizona will take on UCLA on Saturday. Read on to see how thinks it will play out.

Michael Luke: Look for Denker to plummet back to earth this game. Rodriguez has done an amazing job of putting him in low-risk situations, but that will be much more difficult against UCLA.

UCLA's defensive front figures to make its share of plays in the UA backfield, resulting in 3rd and long opportunities for the Arizona offense.

It will be up to Denker to prove the cynics wrong.

If Arizona wins this game, the Pac-12 conference should just name Rich Rod coach of year. With the exception of the running back position, UCLA has better players at each position.

UCLA 31, Arizona 17

Overall: 7-1

Scott Coleman: An argument can be made that this is the biggest football game at Arizona Stadium since Oregon came in 2009. Will the Wildcats show up in front of their Homecoming crowd in prime time?

The Bruins have some injury concerns, most notably starting running back Jordon James. For as good as quarterback Brett Hundley is, UCLA hasn't played well at all when it is one-dimensional on offense.

Add in the offensive line being banged up as well, and most betting lines actually favor the Wildcats by a point or two.

This game will come down to B.J. Denker. Ka'Deem Carey is going to get his regardless. If Denker can continue beating up on the Bruins like he did to the cellar dwellers of the Pac-12 this last month, Arizona has a good chance of pulling the "upset."

I think Denker plays well enough as UA wins the game and stays right in the hunt for the South title.

Arizona 33, UCLA 24

Overall: 7-1

Cody James Martin: I have gone back and forth about this game since it was announced that Jordon James would likely not play.

While I don't think that the offense will fall apart without him, UCLA is definitely going to need to turn to someone else on the ground.

Arizona is going to put up numbers on offense, even more so if the offensive line can turn it around.

However, UCLA is one of the best teams the Wildcats will see all season and is heading to Tucson knowing that Arizona wants revenge form the beating a year ago.

In the end, Ka'Deem Carey will have just enough in him to carry the team to an upset win.

Arizona 38, UCLA 35

Overall: 7-1

Jason Scheer: I don't have a good feel for this game and anybody that says they do is probably lying.

The biggest concern to me is that the Bruins have a lot of speed on defense. There is a good chance that UCLA will sit back and form a pocket, which makes Denker throw more.

If Denker plays well, Arizona likely wins. However, this UCLA defense is dangerous and the Bruins will score just enough to get the win.

UCLA 27, Arizona 20

Overall: 8-0
