Allen excited to be a Wildcat

Arizona continues to finalize its class, as Kadeem Allen has signed with the Wildcats. Read on to see why, his thoughts on his future role, and more.

Hutchinson (Kan.) combo guard Kadeem Allen is considered by many analysts to be the best junior college player in the country and while he had his choice of top schools to attend, he felt a connection with the UA coaching staff that made it impossible to commit elsewhere.

"I just felt like the coaches were on my level and we saw things through the same light," Allen said. "They definitely wanted me to commit there because they had been recruiting me pretty hard since May."

Allen feels Arizona is a natural fit for his skill set.

"Just watching how they play and how the coaches see my role it felt like a natural fit," he said. "They said they see me as a Nick Johnson-type where I'm mainly a shooting guard, but I have the ability to play the point if need be.

"The way they run their system and get up and down the court fits me well. Plus, playing in front of those fans will be unreal."

What will Allen add to the rotation next season?

"I would say right now my strengths are scoring the ball and being able to set my teammates up when the time calls for it," he said. "I've also got the flexibility to be able to play a few different positions on the court."

It goes beyond Allen's physical abilities as to what makes him a great player.

"Mainly, I just love playing basketball and I will do what it takes to get on the floor and help the team win," Allen said. "I'm kind of excited because it's the next step in my development as a basketball player, but at the same time I want to take my game to an even higher level. So I'm happy, but I'm not satisfied."
