Deboskie completes memorable season

Kaelin Deboskie won a state title this past weekend. Read on for his thoughts on his senior season, future at Arizona, and more.

Salpointe Catholic High School just completed one of the most memorable seasons in Tucson high school football history, but the success was expected by many of the players, including wide receiver Kaelin Deboskie.

"We knew going into the year we would be really good," Deboskie said. "When you just looked at the talent we had on the offensive side of the ball it's pretty impressive. Everyone knew how good Cam Denson was and I think me coming in only made us better, because it would be very hard for teams to double either one of us.

"Plus with the guys we had up front it made life a lot easier for the offense. Defensively, wow, what can I say? Those guys just flied around all season and for the few times that games were close they always stepped up and made a play."

Although he played on one of the better teams in state history, it hasn't dawned on Deboskie just how memorable this past season was.

"We really kind of didn't want to think about that stuff during the season because we didn't want to look past anyone, because if we did, that is when we would probably screw up," he said.

Deboskie expects to continue his winning ways next season at the University of Arizona.

"After they offered me it was only a matter of time before I committed," Deboskie said. "Getting to play in front of the home crowd and play for a program that is on the rise is something that everyone would like to do.

"Plus I can play with a buddy of mine, and, who knows, it wouldn't surprise me at all if some of my high school teammates end up there as well."

The Arizona commit has a rough idea of what will be expected of him next season.

"I would imagine they will play me out of the slot and special teams," Deboskie said. "Either way, I'm cool with it and I will be ready to go."
