Junior receiver getting interest from Arizona

Colin Baker is a junior receiver that is already gaining plenty of attention. Read on to see what he says about Arizona, his recruitment, and more.

In Rich Rodriguez' fast-paced offense, he likes to have depth at multiple positions. One of the prospects the coaching staff is closely tracking is Murrieta (Calif.) Vista 2015 wide receiver Colin Baker.

"I have an offer from San Diego State and I'm getting interest from Arizona and California," Baker said. "I attended the Arizona vs. UCLA game and it was a lot of fun. I got to talk with the coaches and they said they are keeping an eye on me and I got the sense that if I work hard an offer will come.

"It's a school I really like, so that would be really cool to get an offer from them."

Above all, Baker's connection with the coaching staff will be a very important factor in his decision.

"I want to go to a place where I'm not just another player," Baker said. "I want to have a close relationship with the coach to the point where I can tell he's trying to win, but at the same time he has everyone's best interests at heart."

Early playing time will also be a consideration for Baker.

"If possible, I'd like for the school I attend to have a need at the receiver position," Baker said. "I'm not saying I don't want to compete, because that's not true. I just want to be at a place where I have a legitimate shot at playing as a freshman."

Baker believes his skills will translate to the college level.

"I'm certainly not a small guy and I have always felt I have an ability to get open," he said. "But I can always get better at running tighter patterns and getting out of my breaks and that is something I'm always working on."
