"Arizona and Arizona State have offered and both want me to go to their junior days and, if possible, I'm going to both," Lucas said. "I'm still trying to figure out what the next step with recruiting is, but both schools are getting better and obviously being in the same state helps and they have offenses that do big things."
While Lucas has interest in the in-state schools, he also wants to look at his out of state options.
"There are a lot of good schools out there, including Pac-12, that anybody would be interested in," Lucas said. "I've been working so I can get to go to whichever school I want to play for."
Playing on a high school team with multiple D-I players, Lucas has witnessed first hand all the attention that comes with being a sought after recruit.
"Jalen (Brown) handled everything well and could go to any school he wanted," Lucas said. "It shows that if you have some skills and if you work hard that stuff will come a lot of the time and my whole thing was just about waiting my turn and getting better. I've played with these guys, so I know a lot of what comes into being a player like that.
"On the field I just try to take advantage of all my reps. I didn't always get a ton because of all the players we have, so when I did I took them really seriously and tried to get the most out of each one."
Lucas' offer list figures to expand, but he is looking at a rough time frame for when he could make a decision.
"I will probably decide sometime during senior year," he said. "I'm not completely sure, but it probably won't be anytime soon."
