Wildcats win Pac-12 title with blowout win

Arizona won the Pac-12 title with a 79-66 win over Stanford on Sunday. Read on for a complete recap of the victory.

Arizona had plenty at stake when it took on Stanford on Sunday.

After the game, it also had plenty of reasons to celebrate.

The Wildcats defeated the Cardinal 79-66 at McKale to win the Pac-12 title.

T.J. McConnell scored on a jumper to start the game and Kaleb Tarczewski made two free-throws. Chasson Randle made a three, but Tarczewski, McConnell, and Aaron Gordon scored consecutive hoops to force a Stanford timeout with the Wildcats up 10-3 with 16:02 left in the first half.

Dwight Powell went one of two from the line and Gordon responded with another dunk. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson then made a free-throw before Josh Huestic scored. Nick Johnson hit one of two, but Anthony Brown made a three and Powell followed with a basket. However, Elliott Pitts made a three from the corner and McConnell's jumper gave Arizona a 19-11 lead with 11:39 left in the half.

Randle made a shot and Gordon and Johnson responded with one of their own. Brown then made two free-throws and Randle made another bucket, but a three by Johnson extended Arizona's lead to 26-17 with 7:57 remaining in the first period.

Gordon made a shot that was answered by two free-throws by Huestis. Gordon made two from the line and Hollis-Jefferson made one, as a shot by Huestis cut the Arizona lead to 31-21. Hollis-Jefferson made two free-throws and then scored after a blocking a shot at the other end, as a bucket by Gordon forced a timeout with Stanford down 37-21 with 2:42 left.

Huestis made two free-throws and McConnell made a jumper. Korcheck made two free-throws, but Brown's five consecutive points cut the Wildcats' lead to 41-28 at the half.

Gordon and Stefan Nastic exchanged shots to start the half and then Powell and Tarczewski did the same. Arizona then got a three-point play from Tarczewski and after a free-throw by Huestis, Tarkzewski made one of two free-throws to keep the Arizona lead at 49-34 with just under 16 minutes left.

Randle made two free-throws and Hollis-Jefferson then scored before Huestis did the same. Johnson proceeded to make a three and York picked up a three-point play. Huestis scored, but York hit a three and as a three-point play by Powell cut Arizona's lead to 60-43 with 11:56 left in regulation.

York then proceeded to make back-to-back three pointers and a layup by Gordon forced a timeout with the lead extended to 68-43.

Huestis tried to get something going with a three, as Gordon hit a free-throw. Randle then scored as did Huestis, but a bucket by Gordon put Arizona's lead at 71-50 with 6:45 left in regulation. Huestis made one more free-throw and McConnell and Powell both scored. Randle then came up with a three-point play with cut the Arizona lead to 73-56 with 3:47 left in regulation.
