Simon impressed on visit

Junior guard Justin Simon visited Arizona on Sunday and came away impressed. Read on for his thoughts on the visit, next step in his recruitment, and more.

Temecula (Calif.) Valley combo guard Justin Simon is the top perimeter player left on the 2015 UA basketball recruiting board and he and his parents were in attendance for the Arizona-Stanford game Sunday evening.

"The visit was a lot of fun," said Justin Simon's father, Ken Simon. "We got to look around the campus a little bit and just kind of get a feel for the area. It was a really great time. Just a nice place all around."

The Simons were also impressed by Arizona's game day atmosphere.

"The game was crazy, but that wasn't a major surprise," Simon said. "When you have one of the very best teams in the league on senior night it was great to see. And then you watch how they play and how Coach stays on them it was impressive."

In addition, Simon noticed the interaction between players and coaches.

"Sean is an intense guy and you can see that his players like playing for him," Ken said. "He is always coaching and his walk throughs really translate to the game. The team seems to get along and everyone seems to be on the same page."

This was, however, just stop one on what figures to be a drawn out recruitment.

"Right now, we just want to get Justin to as many schools as possible," Ken said. "His recruitment has really picked up in the past few months and he has a lot of options now. It is our job to make sure that he knows all the different options out there."

The Wildcats figure to be in this one to the end though.

"Arizona was one of the first big schools on him and that is very nice and something we remember, but at the end Justin has to make the decision that will best further him as a person and as a basketball player," Ken said.
