"We narrowed the list down to ten," said Bennie Boatwright Sr. "We're looking at UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Oregon, UCONN and Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo. With the exception of Connecticut, all of those schools are out west and very good options.
"He's visited a few of these schools, including Arizona, and after the EYBL we want to narrow the list down further."
There are a handful of schools in that top 10 that are recruiting Boatright harder than others.
"Washington, UCLA, USC, Oregon and Colorado are coming after Bennie the hardest right now," Boatright Sr. said. "He's been to UCLA, so we'll probably try to get out and check out the schools we haven't been to. In a couple months we should have a much better picture on where everything stands."
As Boatwright goes through the process, both father and son know what the criteria is.
"Bennie prefers to play the three and I think with his shooting and passing ability he can do that, but he's also not opposed to being a stretch four," Sr. said.
"Either way he's going to continue to work on his game and expanding his driving skills."
