Local safety enjoys visit

Vail (Ariz.) Cienega safety recently took in an Arizona practice. Read on to see what he thought, his recruiting plans, and more.

Vail (Ariz.) Cienega High School 2015 defensive back Terrence Johnson recently attended an Arizona practice and came away with a few thoughts.

"The practice was a lot of fun," Johnson said. "I got to see the guys go up tempo and see how everything goes and it was really impressive. They are so fast and they get after things in a focused way."

The UA coaches are doing everything possible to make sure Johnson is on the football roster in 2015.

"They've been on me for a bit now," he said. "They love my size. Even though they think I will play safety they believe my athleticism and size makes me a flexible fit at a lot of levels on the field.

"I like what I see and have heard, but I'm getting more interest and I want to see what more comes this way in the coming months."

With AAU basketball season starting soon, Johnson figures to get more attention in basketball as well.

"I'm running with the Arizona Power now and we've got a really good squad," Johnson said. "I've been improving and I think I will be able to show everyone just how much I can play."

The offers Johnson receives will likely determine which sport he chooses.

"I've gotten Pac-12 offers in football and I've gotten a lot of good feedback from coaches who believe that I can get a lot better, but at the same time I feel I can really play basketball," he said.

"As of now I don't plan on playing both sports. I guess that could change, but it's not something I plan on. I'm going to see the opportunities I have at the next level and then I will probably decide on which sport I'm going to pursue at the next level."
