How Sweet it is

Arizona blew out Gonzaga on Sunday night to advance to the Sweet 16. Read on for a complete recap of the victory.

Arizona was the favorite going into Sunday's Round of 32 matchup with Gonzaga.

Still, not many could have seen this coming.

The Wildcats dominated in all facets on Sunday, as they defeated Gonzaga 84-61 at Viejas Arena to advance to the sweet 16 against San Diego State.

Przemek Karnowksi scored the first points of the game, but Aaron Gordon answered. Sam Dower then scored and Gabe York hit a three before making two from the line. Gordon scored again and David Stockton did the same. Kaleb Tarczewski and Nick Johnson got consecutive buckets to force a Gonzaga timeout with the Wildcats up 13-6 a little more than four minutes into the game.

Dower got a three-point play, but T.J. McConnell made a three the next time down court. Dower then scored again, as Rondae Jefferson came back with a bucket and hit two free-throws shortly after to put Arizona up 20-11 with 11:51 left in the first half.

Hollis-Jefferson made two free-throws and Kevin Pangos came down and hit a three. Hollis-Jefferson then added two more from the line before Johnson got a dunk. After a bucket by Ryan Edwards, a layup by York forced timeout with Arizona's lead at 12.

Gerard Coleman got his first points of the game, but they were answered by a three from Johnson. Coleman made two from the free-throw line, but Hollis-Jefferson scored. Gordon then made a three and had a dunk to force a timeout. Out of the timeout, a layup by York put the Wildcats up 40-20 with 6:12 left in the half.

Stockton made a basket as Gordon came back with a three-point play. Karnowski then scored as Sean Miller took timeout with Arizona's lead at 43-24.

Kyle Dranginis made a basket and Pangos hit a three as the Zags' 7-0 run was stopped by a dunk from Hollis-Jefferson. Pangos proceeded to make a three and Stockton scored after a bucket by Matt Korcheck as the Wildcats went into halftime up 47-34.

York scored to begin the second half, but Stockton and Karnowski followed. Johnson then hit a jumper and after a basket by Tarczewski, Johnson made a layup to put the Wildcats up 55-38 a few minutes into the second half.

McConnell and Gordon scored, as Karnowski then got a basket. Drew Barham hit a three and Hollis-Jefferson made two free-throws to bring Arizona's lead to 61-43 with 11:59 left in regulation.

Gordon scored and Johnson made a free-throw followed by a bucket. Karnowski then made a shot and got to the line and made two before Hollis-Jefferson scored. Barham made two free-throws and McConnell made one. He then hit a three soon after.

Karnowski proceeded to score, but Tarczewski made a basket and a dunk by Hollis-Jefferson put Arizona up 76-51 and sealed the deal with five minutes left.
