Friekh looking forward to freshman year

Layth Friekh is only days away from joining Arizona. Read on to see his thoughts on his future and more.

Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial 2014 offensive lineman Layth Friekh is one the biggest recruits literally and figuratively to commit to play for Rich Rodriguez.

"When I committed to Arizona it just felt like a totally natural fit," Freikh said. "They love my size, plus it's close to home, it's in a big conference and I will be able to play in front of a lot of my friends and family."

Friekh is only days away from joining a coaching staff that was a big reason why he committed.

"They were on me really quickly, but they weren't overbearing or anything like that," he said. "It kind of seemed like they were seriously interested in helping me find the best place possible and that just so happened to be at Arizona."

As Friekh looks ahead, he feels the Arizona system is a perfect fit for his skills.

"I'm a really big guy, but I pride myself in being able to do a lot of things," he said. "I feel I can run block and pass block really well and on top of that I can get to the edge and seal and these are all things that I will be doing in the Arizona offense."

The lineman is also looking forward to playing for a fast-paced offense.

"I feel as the game goes on I tend to get stronger and when you see what Arizona has done running the ball since Coach Rodriguez has been there, you can just tell that is something he values," Friekh said.

"What lineman wouldn't want to play in a system where the coach basically puts his trust in the offensive line to close out the game?"
