Hawkins taking his time

Jaylinn Hawkins is one of the top receivers in the west. Read on for an update on his recruitment, interest in Arizona, and more.

Like most top football prospects from the 2015 class, Buena Park (Calif.) wide receiver Jaylinn Hawkins has been trying to figure out his recruiting situation, but just when he is ready to narrow his list, more schools get involved.

"There's been a little bit of stuff going on recently," Hawkins said. "All of the schools that I was looking at are still there, but there are a couple new schools in the mix.

"Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin are sending me a lot of stuff. Those are schools with good reputations, so we'll see where everything leads with that."

Arizona has also entered the equation.

"Arizona offered me a few weeks ago," Hawkins said. "It's a place I could see myself visiting. The schools that like me I want to give a fair shot to and Arizona is one of those schools. They're definitely on the radar."

With so many high-profile schools recruiting Hawkins, he's looking to take the next step in the process.

"I'm pretty much done with camps and stuff like that," he said. "The next step is going on the visits.

"There are two schools that I'm going to visit for sure. I'm going to take an official visit to Oregon and Washington.

"Oregon would interest any player with the offense they run and it's an easy system to imagine yourself playing in. Washington has a little bit of that new vibe going on with the new coach. I'm interested to see both places."

Considering Hawkins doesn't plan on announcing his decision until Signing Day, don't be surprised if more schools get involved in his recruitment.
