Cape Coral (Fla.) Island Coast 2015 pass rusher Marlon Gonzalez is one of the more acclaimed players on the Wildcat coaches’ wish list, but it won't be easy to land him.
“I will go to the best place for me,” Gonzalez said. “My main goal is to get to the National Football League, but at the same time I would prefer to stay in the state of Florida if possible. My mother is here and I don’t want to leave her if that is possible.
“There are places out of the region like Arizona that want me to visit and if I can make that happen I will go.”
Gonzalez has a few scheduled visits coming up in the next couple weeks.
“I’m going to be taking some in-state visits coming up here soon," he said. "I know for sure I will be checking Central Florida and South Florida.
"Other than that I have a visit set up for Tennessee at the end of the month, but that is it."
When Gonzalez goes on his visits, he has a good idea of what he will be looking at.
“My top priority is to get to the NFL, so when I go on my visits I’m looking at the school and coach’s background at putting guys into the league," Gonzalez said.
"On top of that I want to see what the coach views my role as being and I will evaluate everything from there.”
Gonzalez would prefer not to string out his recruitment.
“I would like to decide before the season if possible, or sometime in the middle of the season," he said.
"I want to find the right place for me and my family, but at the same time I’m going to check with my boys and see what their plans are as well.”
