Fox is in no hurry
Four-star shooting guard De'Aaron Fox is one of the more talented players in the class of 2016. With elite speed and potential to really be an excellent shooter down the line, Fox is attracting major college interest after an improved spring and summer. “I think I had a pretty good summer and proved that I am more than just someone who can shoot the ball,” explained Fox. Despite being an underclassman, Fox feels he took on more of a leadership role with Houston Hoops this year after being a role player last year behind Kelly Oubre, Justin Jackson, and Justise Winslow. “I’ve been working on becoming a leader,” said Fox. “Last year I didn’t have to do much, all I did was sit in the corner and shoot because I was on the floor with three All-Americans, but this year I believe I showed I can play point guard and lead a team.” Recruiting wise Fox has picked up a lot of interest recently, and continues to add scholarship offers. “I am talking to Florida a lot, North Carolina State and Kansas offered recently,” explained Fox. “The schools I have been talking to the most would probably be Baylor, Texas, Kansas State, Louisville, and Kansas.” The new offer from Kansas was a big one for Fox, and he was thrilled to get it. “Every kid wants to get an offer from a school like Kansas,” said Fox. “It feels good, but I am expecting to play well and have schools like Kansas offer me, but it was definitely an honor.” Another school that has made a big move with Fox is Texas. The Longhorns continue to show him significant attention, and Fox likes the program. “I like Texas’ program,” noted Fox. “I think that team last year making it to the second round of the tournament is building their program, and then to get Myles Turner, it shows the program is back on the rise.” The Louisville Cardinals have been on impressive recruiting roll lately, Fox says they are very much in the mix for his services. “I love the way Louisville plays,” said Fox. “To be recruited by them is great. Coach (Rick) Pitino is a legendary coach, and it is great to be recruited by him.” For now Fox says he has no visits set up, but the 2016 prospect plans to take his time before making any kind of decision and is interested in finding a school with great tradition and a favorable style of play.
