McGinnis working on top five

Arthur McGinnis is getting closer to cutting his list down. Read on for an update on his recruitment and more.

New Orleans Warren Easton Senior 2015 outside linebacker Arthur McGinnis hails from a city that the University of Arizona coaching staff has made a concerted effort to tap into.

McGinnis is one of the most talented pass rushers in the country though, so it wont be easy to lure him out West.

“I’ve been picking up a lot more interest and offers,” McGinnis said. “Schools like Oklahoma are keeping a close eye on me and have said that if I play to my capabilities then an offer could come really soon.”

For a player who doesn’t plan on making a decision soon, this figures to give him more options.

“I’m focused on the high school season right now," he said. "I have big goals. I want to go out there and dwarf my numbers from last season, but it’s also not just about numbers with me.

"I’ve been working on my coverage skills so that I can be a three down lineman. I’m getting better at it and I think schools we’ll see that I can play.”

One school that has no doubt that McGinnis can play is the University of Arizona.

“Coach Magee has been on me for a long time," McGinnis said. "They really like how I play and want me to come to the school.”

While Arizona certainly has a chance to receive an official from McGinnis, it won’t be easy.

"I haven’t set any visits up yet," he said. "It’s just really hard with the season about to start, but in the meantime I’m trying to come up with a top five. That way I can go about setting up my visits when I have some free time.

“The visits will be cool because I want to see how I fit with the team and how I get along with the coaches.”
