While many committed prospects start having second thoughts at this stage in the recruiting process, New Orleans Warren Easton Senior 2015 linebacker Kendal Franklin isn’t one of those players.
“To me it just came down to the fact that Arizona was the best school for me and I was ready to commit,” Franklin said. “They recruited me really hard. You can tell they made a real effort to recruit this city and it shows in all the commitments they have gotten from New Orleans.
“A lot of that had to do with Coach Magee. Everyone knows he has a good reputation and when they came in and said I was a priority, I could tell that they really meant it.”
It wasn’t just the comfort factor that played a role in Franklin’s commitment.
“They had given my potential role a lot of thought," Franklin said. "They talked about how they could see me filling up space in the middle or coming off the edge.
"The thing with them is about getting the best players on the field and they run the type of defense that allows them to mix and match to the point where the best players do get out there.
“It was a defense that I think would be a lot of fun to play in, and then you see some of the players coming in and it just shows you they are going to be doing some things.”
Franklin has added more offers since his commitment, but his decision to remain solid with Arizona has not wavered.
“I have some pretty good offers, but when you look at the track record of Coach Rodriguez and the type of players he’s got coming in and the fact that they are taking a national approach, it makes the decision all that much easier.”
