Franklin impressed with visit

Arizona commit Kendal Franklin took his official visit this past weekend. Read on to see how it went, what he says about his future role, and more.

The recruiting prowess of Co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach Calvin Magee might be one of the most underrated advantages of the UA football staff and New Orleans Warren Easton 2015 linebacker Kendal Franklin would certainly agree.

“My visit this weekend was great,” Franklin said. “I got to spend a lot of time with Coach Magee and he has done just a great job recruiting all of us Louisiana kids.

“I hung out with Orlando Bradford and Shun Brown the entire visit. We have no complaints.”

Franklin entered his visit as an Arizona commit and watching the USC game only reinforced his beliefs about the program.

“The crowd was super loud and the atmosphere was at another level," Franklin said. "The city really supports their football team and it’s easy to see that they have big goals at Arizona.”

The linebacker believes he fits in with Arizona's defensive concepts.

“They want me at the SAM linebacker, which makes sense," he said. "I go all out. The coach will never have to tell me to work harder. If my job is to fill a gap or rush the quarterback, I will put 100 percent into it.

“The coaches believe I have the ability to play a few different roles. They have done a good job of explaining to me what is expected.”

It was this communication that sold Franklin on committing to Arizona.

“Coach Rodriguez and the entire staff are the best," Franklin said. "They openly talk to you about how everyone needs to work together to make the team better and nothing will be given. Whoever gets playing time will be the player that earned in it.”
