Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Los Osos 2016 outside linebacker Bryce Youngquist is a rare blue chipper thriving on a struggling team.
“It’s been a tough season for me from a team perspective,” Youngquist said. “We kind of knew going into the season that we might have some problems, and it has certainly played out that way.
"I’ve tried to do everything possible to do my part and for the most part it has played out that way. I think at this point I have nine tackles per game, three or four sacks on the season and I think four forced fumbles.”
Some of the best programs in the country have noticed how the linebacker has played.
“I’m getting interest from some pretty good schools," Youngquist said. "Ohio State, Washington and UCLA have been talking to me. There are other schools like Arizona that are sending me stuff as well.
“I’m going to Arizona State in a couple weeks and then Utah the week after that. I will probably take some other visits, but I am not sure where yet."
Youngquist is approaching his recruitment with an open mind.
“I want to get as early a start on the process as possible," he said. "I will be able to see how the different coaches act and how they operate.
“I want to announce on Signing Day. There really isn’t a reason for me not to give all the schools an opportunity. It will be interesting to see if and which other schools might get involved.”
