Like his future collegiate team, Shreveport ( La.) Calvary Academy 2015 athlete Shun Brown’s high school squad has already surpassed expectations.
“Right now were 9-1 and just rolling,” Brown said. “We knew going into the season we were going to have a strong season and it’s really played out like that.
“I took my training to another level and right now I’m the best player I’ve ever been, but I’m not satisfied, especially when I think of what the next stop will be.”
That next step will be playing football for the University of Arizona.
“When they offered me and I checked out the place and talked with the coaches it really became a no-brainer at that point," Brown said.
“The school is top notch and when I talked with the coaches about playing the slot, they already had examples drawn up for me and it seemed like they were ready to plug me in the lineup really quickly.”
The possibility of early playing time attracted Brown.
“Who wouldn’t want to play in the offense they have ?" Brown said. "I understand they had a tough go of it on Saturday, but that stuff happens.
"Look at how they played the rest of the season. Then when you see all the receivers that get action it really makes for a nice fit.”
Brown has been able to focus on his senior season more now that his recruitment is out of the way.
“It’s every kid’s goal to be recruited at a high level, and the fact that a big time school with a great coaching staff wanted me was really all I needed to hear," he said. "I wasn’t looking to waste anyone’s time once I knew where I wanted play."
