With North Fort Myers (Fla.) defensive tackle Marlon Gonzalez's season ending, it now appears that the 6-foot-4, 260-pound three-star will focus more on his recruiting.
“Our season is over and it was a tough way to go out because we were on the wrong side of a three way tie, had opportunities though,” Gonzalez said. “It’s time to move on though.”
Equipped with the frame and athleticism that would indicate a bright future, Gonzalez plans on looking further into collegiate options.
“A lot of the coaches recruiting me like me somewhere along the line," Gonzalez said. "Some like me at the five technique. Others see me as a pass rusher, but it basically comes down to how much weight I can put on and how much of my quickness I can also keep.”
There are numerous colleges that would love to procure Gonzalez’ services.
“I’m looking at a lot of schools in the South, but not just in the South," Gonzalez said. "I’m also looking at some schools out of the region.”
Arizona is one of the schools trying to get Gonzalez on campus
“They’ve been on me for a bit," Gonzalez said. "They think I can fit in with what they want to do and can help in that regard. They are on the radar.”
Gonzalez figures to take his time in making his decision.
“I don’t have any visits scheduled, but I will get them going," he said. "I always wanted to decide on Signing Day, but I might not make it by then. I have a lot of stuff to figure out.”
