Holt is already familiar with the Arizona program, but, if possible, the game only enhanced his impression of the school.
“It was a fun game to go to,” Holt said. “There were some other recruits there and we were just taking all it in. It seems each year there is more of a buzz and the way they are winning games it’s almost like they go in to the game expecting to win now. Their record shows that.”
Arizona was one of the first schools to enter Holt’s recruitment and he appreciates that.
“I really like Arizona, UCLA and Utah," Holt said. "I like Arizona because they are the local school and were in on me early.
"UCLA is a school that is getting some of the best talent in the country and they have a coach in Jim Mora who I really like. He’s the kind of coach that seems like he’s a great football coach, but also good guy.”
Holt is looking for a special connection with any potential coaching staff.
“I want a coach who gets me to be the best player I can be, but, just as importantly, I want to have a coach that will be there as a guy that I respect and cares about his players maturing into good people," Holt said.
The 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive tackle plans to choose a program by the end of summer.
“I should have more than enough information by then to make a decision on a school," Holt said. "I want to stay in the Pac-12, so I have a pretty good idea of the region where I’m going to attend, but I have to give everyone a fair chance.
"I’m not looking to wait, though. When I’m absolutely sure where I want to go, I will announce.”
