Simon accomplishing goals

Since seventh grade, Justin Simon's goal has been to sign with Arizona. Read on to see what he says about accomplishing that goal and more.

In an era where many five star prospects elect to prolong the recruiting process in an effort to gain more attention, Brewster Academy (N.H.) 2015 combo guard Justin Simon has known where he wanted to go for a while.

“It was a major relief to sign that letter of intent,” Simon said. “The entire day was totally unreal. Just being around my family and friends and being able to sign that letter of intent to the school of my dreams.

“It made it even bigger because I knew I wanted to be an Arizona Wildcat since I was in 7th grade. All those years playing and giving everything to the game and just being able to accomplish one of my goals, I’m truly blessed.”

It wasn’t one thing that led to Simon’s commitment, but rather a culmination of factors.

“Arizona was always my favorite school, but I wasn’t gong to go there if I didn’t like the coaches," Simon said. "Coach Miller is the perfect coach for me and it didn’t take long to figure that out.”

The coaching staff’s consistent contact only re-affirmed Simon’s commitment.

“They’ve always been talking to me, but it became real for me these past few weeks that I’m going to be playing for Coach Sean Miller and Coach Stoudamire, one of the best point guards in conference history," Simon said.

Simon is coming to Arizona knowing what is expected of him.

“I have to be ready to play every position possible," he said. "I feel I can do both. I can run the lead guard spot and I think I can the two and the three if needed, but either way I will be playing against the best players everyday in practice.

"That will really show me what I need to work on, and I’m looking forward to being coached at the school of my dreams.”
