Balanced effort leads Wildcats

Arizona had five players score in double figures as it defeated Stanford 89-82. Read on for a complete recap of the Wildcats' victory.

Despite there being a total of 50 fouls and difficulty getting any rhythm for both teams, Arizona's second half effort was more than enough to defeat Stanford 89-82 on the road.

Rosco Allen made a three to start the game and Brandon Ashley responded with a free-throw and ensuing three-point play. He then scored on the offensive glass before Marcus Allen got on the board. Anthony Brown went one of two from the line and T.J. McConnell scored to put Arizona up 8-6 at the media timeout.

Brown scored and Rondae Jefferson did as well. Stanley Johnson got his first bucket of the game, but Dorian Pickens made a three. Gabe York made a three of his own before Chasson Randle scored. A bucket by Parker Jackson-Cartwright then gave the Wildcats a 17-13 lead with 11:56 left in the half.

York made another three and Brown scored. Hollis-Jefferson then scored and Michael Humphrey got a bucket. McConnell and Hollis-Jefferson got consecutive baskets to put Arizona up 26-17.

Randle made two free-throws and Tarczewski and Allen got one each. Randle made two more free-throws and Parker Jackson-Cartwright scored. Randle banked in a three and Dorian Pickens made two free-throws.

Elliott Pitts scored his first points of the game at the free-throw line and Stefan Nastic scored. Randle made two free-throws that were matched by York before Pickens got a three-point play to put Stanford up 34-33 with about four minutes remaining in the first half.

Jackson-Cartwright got a layup and Humphrey made two free-throws. Nastic then hit a floater and a three by Johnson tied the game. Jackson-Cartwright made one free-throw and a three by Randle put Stanford up 41-39 at the half.

Marcus Allen scored to start the half and Ashley went one of two from the line. Marcus Allen then scored again before Johnson made a three to bring the Wildcats within two.

Nastic and Tarczewski both scored and Brown and McConnell did the same. Brown then hit a three and McConnell made a floater in the lane. Ashley proceeded to get a three-point play and a traditional three.

Nastic made one free-throw and Marcus Allen scored. Johnson and Hollis-Jefferson then both got buckets to put the Wildcats up 59-55 with 11:17 left in regulation.

Nastic made another free-throw and Johnson scored. Randle got a layup, but Hollis-Jefferson got a bucket to keep Arizona’s lead at five.

Nastic made two free-throws and Johnson scored. Matt Korcheck then got his first bucket of the game and Brown made two from the line. Johnson and Korcheck proceeded to score again to force a Stanford timeout with the Wildcats up 71-62 with just under six minutes left.

Ashley scored and Hollis-Jefferson made a free-throw. Ashley then made two from the line and Rosco Allen made one as a three by Brown cut the Arizona lead to ten with 1:47 left.

York made two free-throws that were matched by Randle McConnell made two as well and Brown made a three. York and Rankle both made two free-throws before York made one more. Hollis-Jefferson went one of two and Randle made a layup to bring Stanford to within nine.

Johnson made two free-throws and Randle scored. After a free-throw by Johnson, Tarczewski scored and wrapped up the game.
