Arizona blows out California

Arizona used a dominant second half to defeat California 73-50 on Saturday night. Read on for a complete recap.

The first half may not have been pretty, but the second half was dominant as Arizona defeated California 73-50 on the road Saturday night.

Brandon Ashley scored to open the game and Jabari Bird matched him. Rondae Jefferson made two free-throws followed by a shot by Stanley Johnson. Tyrone Wallace got on the board and Hollis-Jefferson scored again.

Johnson got a three-point play and Matthews came back and scored. David Kravish made a shot and a three by Bird tied the game at 11 with 7:19 left in the first half.

Dusan Ristic and Kravish proceeded to exchange hoops. Johnson scored, but Kravish got two consecutive baskets.

Parker Jackson-Cartwright scored and Gabe York then made a three. Ristic and Wallace both scored before Johnson made two free-throws.

Ristic made a three and Johnson hit two free-throws to end the half and give the Wildcats a 29-19 lead.

Kravish scored to start the half and Kaleb Tarczewski scored. T.J. McConnell got his first buckets of the game and Hollis-Jefferson followed with a three-point play.

Wallace and McConnell proceeded to exchange baskets to give the Wildcats a 38-23 lead less than five minutes into the half.

Tarczewski made two free-throws and Matthews then scored. After a basket by Ristic, Kravish made a shot to cut the Arizona lead to 42-27 with 13:32 left in the second half.

Wallace scored and Tarczewski made two free-throws. Johnson then forced a turnover and got a dunk to extend the lead to 46-29.

McConnell scored and Bird did as well. Johnson made a free-throw and Hollis-Jefferson then made two.

Tarczewksi scored and Wallace made one free-throw. Ashley made two, followed by a three from Matthews. Jackson-Cartwright got in the lane and put the Wildcats up 57-35 with just under eight minutes left.

Ashley got his sixth point of the night and Wallace came down and scored. After a basket by Johnson, Matthews hit a three. Ristic scored and Johnson made two free-throws.

Kravish made a jumper, but Tarczewski scored on the next possession. A layup by Wallace then had Arizona leading 67-46 with 3:36 remaining.
