“My recruitment has been enjoyable,” Hands said. "I really enjoy being able to talk to the coaches and study each program.
“A lot of schools have been in contact, but as of now it’s UCLA, Arizona, SDSU, Memphis and USC that have offered me. Stanford and Cal have shown heavy interest, but nothing has been made official. Kansas also sent me a couple of letters awhile back, too.”
The sophomore guard knows he still has a lot of developing to go through and is in no rush to expedite his recruitment.
“It’s still too early for me to focus in on certain schools," Hands said. “I just want to play my game and the rest will fall into place for me.
“My parents also want me to take my time along with my coaches and teammates, so that’s what I will do. It’s important to let the process play out.”
Hands is not shy about his strong suits. He considers himself a playmaker and pesky defender, but the young guard also sees where he needs to improve.
“I want to improve on my killer instinct,” he said. “It’s important to always be in attack mode on both ends of the floor.”
Arizona is one of the schools that has already offered Hands and the Wildcats are heavily involved.
“Arizona has been really involved with my recruitment,” he said. “We talk often too, whether it’s to my dad or me. I would say I hear from them about a couple times a week. I’ve seen the coaches at my practices and games also."
The five-star prospect has plenty of time before he decides on a school, but he gave Arizona high praises for its program and wants to keep watching the Wildcats.
“I don’t have a timetable for a decision right now,” said Hands. “But I like Arizona and I plan to keep with the team as the time goes by because they are a great program.
“I love Arizona’s atmosphere during games, there’s few arenas that get as loud as McKale. Their coaching staff is one of the best and their reputation as a great program holds a lot of weight.”
