“The Texas Tech visit I just went on was legit,” McGinnis said. “The campus was fun and it seemed like the team and players like being part of the program.
"The coaches made me a top priority. They said I could play early, which is nice. But every school that is recruiting me is telling me that.
“Everything I saw fit the bill of something I’m looking for in any school that I want to go to. Plus, it’s not that far from home and they have a young coach who is doing things and putting the program back on the map.”
One of McGinnis' other finalists has a coach that is putting a program back on the map.
“Coach Rodriguez said some of the same things," McGinnis said. "He thinks I can play early and they are looking for more pass rushers like myself. It’s easy to see the job he’s doing there, so I’m happy that they are one of my finalists.”
A traditional power will get the last chance to impress McGinnis.
“I’ve got Oklahoma next," McGinnis said. "What can you really say about Oklahoma? So many championships and so many guys in the NFL and Coach Stoops has had great success there. I really don’t know what to expect on that trip. I’m guessing it will be a lot of fun."
Once that trip is over, it will be decision time for McGinnis.
"After that, I’m going to make a pretty quick decision," he said. "When I look at the schools I like they all have great coaches and aren’t that far away and have guys on the coaching staff that I have a ton of respect for. There is no way I can make a bad decision.”
