"I committed when Arizona won the Oregon game last year," Connolly said. "I was impressed with how they played and it was a second home to me.
"The team plays for each other, the coaching staff are awesome guys, and I can't wait to get in that environment. I love what Arizona stands for and I want to be a part of that."
Connolly missed his senior season with a torn ACL but is on his way back to getting completely healthy.
"My knee is doing great," he said. "Right now I am getting the strength back and all the mobility back.
"The coaches at Arizona stayed committed to me and I thank them for that. They won't regret recruiting me. It tells me what Arizona is all about and I am blessed every day."
Sometimes there can be pressure for a player to stay close to home, but Connolly says his decision had nothing to do with that.
"I don’t pay attention to it," he said. "I just feel like being close to home is a good thing because I am close to my family, but U of A also felt right to me."
Upon arriving to Arizona, Connolly will be playing a different position than he did during his junior season.
"I will be playing defensive end there," he said. "They see me playing in the stack and being more of a pass rushing kind of guy because I am quick off the ball.
"Coach Kirelawich is awesome. He is like my high school coach. He is a great guy that is intense. he will get on you and he is a good coach I can’t wait to work with."
