Snellville (Ga.) 2016 Shiloh High School pass rusher Kordell Slater is one of the larger prospects in a talent rich state and it won't be a surprise if his recruitment starts to pick up.
“Right now, I have an offer from Marshall, but the schools that have kept in the closest contact are also Virginia, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, USF, Florida Atlantic and Northern Arizona,” said Slater.
Arizona has had some preliminary contact as well and Slater’s size alone figures to garner him more college looks.
“Right now, I’m 6 foot 5 and 251 pounds," he said. "I’m still trying to put on the best weight possible, but I’ve been pretty successful at doing that. I have the kind of body that can definitely put on a lot more strength as well.”
On the field, Slater has high expectations.
“I’m trying to attack off the snap and get up the field," he said. "I felt I did pretty well last season, but I want to get to the point where I’m just dominating on the field and teams have to scheme against me.”
Despite residing in Georgia, Slater has his eye on an out of the state school.
“Louisiana State is my dream school, and if they were to offer me I would commit on the spot; that’s how much I like the program," he said.>
“I like it’s location and I like how consistently they win and get guys into the NFL, but if that doesn’t happen I'm going to hopefully find a place with a good coach that can improve me the most as a player.”
