Lancaster (Calif.) Paraclete 2016 running back Melquise Stovall figures to be one of the highest rated running backs in the west for the rest of his high school career and if his early offer list is any indication, he will have plenty of college choices.
“Right now, the five offers I have are Washington, Miami, Boise State, San Diego State and Colorado,” Stovall said. “Having those schools offer me is really good and I want to take as many visits as possible.
"I am going to visit Washington and Miami next month. I’m also hearing from the LA schools, the Arizona schools and a bunch of other places.”
At this point, Stovall has no clue where his recruitment will lead.
“I’m interested in the schools that are interested in me," he said. "It’s basically that simple. I’m really fortunate to have this many offers already, but I think if I keep improving it will only help my chances.”
Improving upon last season’s impressive numbers won’t be easy.
“I had 1,600 yards and 25 touchdowns and something like 400 returning yards," Stovall said. "This was a big season for me because I’m a back that likes to get the ball and make people miss and game after game I seemed to get better at that.”
Stovall isn’t content, however.
“The offers are great, but my mind is on getting better and starting to decide where I might go to play," he said. "If I can get all the visits in that I need between the spring and summer, I think I will be able to make a decision, but it just comes down to time.“I will say this, the two most important football things for me are finding a coach that I really trust and I would like to play out of a spread offense.”
