Thursday's game against USC went about as expected with the Wildcats defeating the Trojans 87-57 at McKale.
Kaleb Tarczewski got a three-point play to start the game. Nikola Jovanovic scored for the Trojans before Brandon Ashley and Tarczewski did the same. Elijah Stewart made a three and Darion Clark got on the board.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson hit a jumper and Jacobs answered, but a three by Elliott Pitts put the Wildcats up five.
Taerczewski got a basket and Ashley made one of two from the line. Jovanovic hit a jumper, but Hollis-Jefferson did also and a three by Johnson extended Arizona’s lead to nine.
Jovanovic scored and Tarczewski responded with two consecutive dunks. Hollis-Jefferson then got a three-point play and Arizona’s lead was at 36-22 with 7:32 remaining in the first half.
Jovanovic scored and Stewart made a three. Ashley then hit two free-throws and McConnell made a jumper as Arizona led by 13.
Jovanovic made one free-throw and Johnson scored. Gabe York nailed a three before Johnson scored again. After a bucket by Jacobs, Clark made a free-throw. McConnell proceeded to make two of his own as the Wildcats went into the half up 49-31.
Johnson started the half with a bucket and scored another after Ashley got one of his own, as Andy Enfield took timeout with the Trojans down 55-31 less than three minutes into the second half.
Hollis-Jefferson made a three and McConnell got a three-point play. Martin then scored and after a three-point play by Jacobs, made two free-throws to bring the Trojans within 61-38 with 14:33 to go.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright made two of three free-throws and Ristic scored. After two free-throws from Jacobs, Martin got another bucket. However, a three by Jackson-Cartwright had Arizona leading 68-42 with 11:41 left.
Martin made a free-throw and Hollis-Jefferson made two. Jackson-Cartwright got a three-point play and after a bucket by the Trojans, Tarczewski made a free-throw and Arizona kept a 74-46 lead with 8:48 left.
