Arizona embarrasses Cal

Arizona completely dominated Cal en route to a victory on Thursday night. Read on for a complete recap.

Arizona sent a message on Thursday night as it defeated California 99-60 to claim sole possession of the Pac-12 title.

Rondae Jefferson scored and David Kravish put California on the board. Brandon Ashley and Jabari Bird exchanged baskets before Kravish scored again.

Ashley made two free-throws and Kingsley Okoroh made one. Hollis-Jefferson then made two of his own before Stanley Johnson scored.

Bird proceeded to make a three and Ashley made another jumper. Tyrone Wallace followed with his first points to tie the game at 12 at the first media timeout.

Elliott Pitts scored and Gabe York did the same. Sam Singer made two free-throws and Kaleb Tarczewski scored his first bucket of the night. Parker Jackson-Cartwright made a three and a basket by Ashley gave the Wildcats a 23-14 lead with 10:44 left.

Ashley was able to add two more free-throws before Singer scored. Ashley then got another basket and a three-point play to put the Wildcats up 30-16 with 7:20 left in the half.

Singer scored off a turnover, but York came back with a three. Johnson then got two consecutive buckets before a dunk by Hollis-Jefferson forced timeout with Arizona up 39-18.

Tarczewski made two free-throws before Singer scored. After two free-throws by Bird, Tarczewski scored again.

Wallace got a bucket and Tarczewski made a free-throw. Johnson scored and Tarczewski did as well after a free-throw by Wallace as Arizona took a 48-27 lead into the half.

Kravish scored to begin the second half, but Tarczewski and McConnell did as well. Kravis then got another but, as two hoops from Ashley gave the Wildcats a 56-31 lead three minutes into the half.

Ashley and Wallace exchanged baskets before Johnson made a free-throw. Bird and Dusan Ristic then scored, but Brandon Chauca made a three. A bucket by Ristic then put Arizona up 63-58 with over 13 minutes left.

Ristic got two consecutive baskets and Hollis Jefferson added a three-point play and one more free-throw. McConnell then made two straight baskets to give Arizona a 75-38 lead with 11 minutes left.

Tarczewski made a free-throw and Singer followed with a three-point play. Tarczewski and Christian Behrens exchanged baskets before McConnell scored and Arizona’s lead was 80-43 with 7:48 left.
