T.J. McConnell opened the game with a three and Rondae Jefferson made two free-throws. Kevin Looney then scored, but Kaleb Tarczewski made a free-throw and Brandon Ashley scored to force a UCLA timeout up 11-2.
Hamilton got a floater and Ashley scored. Powell got a dunk and Hamilton added another basket before a three from McConnell put Arizona up 16-14.
Tony Parker made four straight free-throws before Ashley scored. Johnson then made a three and Ashley scored again to give the Wildcats a 23-18 lead with 3:21 remaining in the first half.
Welsh made a jumper, as did Ashley. Alford and Ashley then made two free-throws each before a basket by Powell and three from Alford tied the game at 27 going into the half.
Parker made two free-throws to start the second half and then made a bucket. Powell proceeded to make two free-throws before Hollis-Jefferson and Johnson scored.
Parker got another basket and Tarczewski had a dunk. A three-point play by Powell then put the Bruins up 38-33 at the media timeout.
Ashley scored and Parker made one of two from the line. Powell then made a layup, but Gabe York hit a three.
Alford made a jumper and Ashley hit two free-throws. A hook shot by Welsh then gave the Bruins a 47-40 lead with about 12 minutes left.
Elliott Pitts made a layup and Tarczewski hit one of two from the line. Ashley and McConnell then scored to tie the game at 47 with 9:26 left.
Hollis-Jefferson made a free-throw and Ashley scored on the offensive glass. York then made a three and the Bruins called timeout down 53-47.
Ashley and Parker exchanged baskets before Hollis-Jefferson got one. Alford then made a three and Welsh a free-throw to cut Arizona’s lead to 57-53 with 3:45 left.
Tarczewski and Hollis-Jefferson made one free-throw each before Powell got a three-point play. Johnson then made two free-throws, but Powell hit a three to bring the Bruins within 63-61 with 1:33 remaining.
Johnson got fouled and made two free-throws, but a basket by Parker kept the game within two with 1:02 left.
Johnson and Looney proceeded to match three-pointers and Arizona led 66-64 with 19.5 second remaining.
The game then went to the line where McConnell and Ashley made two each to seal the game and advance.
