Arizona, New Mexico to Start Home-and-Home

TUCSON, Ariz. – The men’s basketball programs at former conference rivals Arizona and New Mexico have agreed to a two-year home-and-home series, the schools announced Monday in a joint release.

The series will begin at McKale Center on Dec. 17, 2016, and conclude at WisePies Arena aka The Pit in Albuquerque on Dec. 16, 2017.

Arizona holds an 83-42 advantage in the all-time series with New Mexico, which began in Albuquerque on Feb. 1, 1917. The schools were both members of the Border Conference from 1931-51 and the Western Athletic Conference from 1962-78.

UA and UNM haven’t faced each other in men’s basketball since 1999.
