Arizona going hard after Lee

Ira Lee is one of the top players in the country in 2017. Read on for an update on his recruitment, what he thinks of Arizona, and more.

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon 2017 power forward Ira Lee has emerged as one of the top prospects in the west and his recruitment reflects it.

“My recruitment has gone really well,” Lee said. “I have offers from UConn, USC, UCLA, Arizona, Cal, Tulsa, Auburn, and all of them are great programs. Also, recently, Kentucky, Kansas and Duke have all expressed interest.”

With a lot of different offers coming in, Lee is focused on returning from injury and progressing as a player.

“The process has been hard, but it got smoother toward the end,” he said. “This past weekend was my first game in six months and it felt pretty good.

"I was doing what I do best, hustling and rebounding. I was scoring the ball pretty well too.”

There are two schools that have been pursuing Lee the hardest.

“Arizona and UConn have really been after me,” Lee added. “Both are in frequent contact and both are great programs.

"Arizona's coaching staff is great. Coach Miller and I agree on how an offense should be run, with a fast pace and a lot of ball movement.”

Lee will continue to play AAU ball this summer, but also wants to check out some schools.

“I want to take some unofficial visits to some of these schools over the summer to get a better look," he said.

"There’s so many great things about each program so I really need to look at everything.”

There is no decision in the near future, but the four-star prospect has a general target for the end of his senior season.

“I have a lot of time left and I probably won’t make a decision until my senior season,” Lee said. “I want to make sure I find the best fit for me.

"It’s not just about basketball, academics play an important role too.”
