Taller receivers are one of the staples of a Rich Rodriguez offense and one of the taller prospects on the Arizona recruiting radar is 6-foot-4, 200-pound San Diego (Calif.) Henry 2016 wide receiver Dezmon Patmon.
“I’m a bigger receiver, so I’m able to really be a threat in the redzone and be a real option for the quarterback on long throws,” Patmon said. “I’m working to get my hands even better. There are a couple times I’ve felt I could catch a ball that somehow dropped.”
Not surprisingly, the local school is interested in Patmon’s abilities.
“San Diego State is always going to be a place that I’m going to be very interested in," Patmon said. "It’s close and I’ve taken visits there. I know all about the program and where it’s going.”
The interest isn’t limited to San Diego State.
“Arizona has been talking to me a lot," Patmon said. "They’ve said they really like what they see from my tape and it seems like an offer might come.
"I think they said the wide receiver coach might be coming out here soon. We’ll see where everything goes, but I’m for sure interested."
Patmon has a good idea of what he is looking for in a school.
“Any receiver is going to like an offense that throws the ball all over the place," he said. "That’s one of the things that I’m looking for.
"I don’t want to go to a school where they just run the ball the entire time, but actually give the receivers a chance to make a play.”
Don’t expect a drawn out recruitment from Patmon.
“The way I’m feeling right now, I’m probably going to decide before my senior season," he said.
"It would be great to get some more offers, but if not I always have a plan.”
