“Coach Ragle was here last week and they like me,” Pili said. “It seemed like they think I might be a good fit in the different defense they run. They want me to come visit and I’m looking to possibly set that up.”
The Arizona coaching staff sees many of the same qualities in Pili that others see.
“Coaches like that I’m really good in run support," Pili said. "I can get in there and make plays and also get in back and drop into coverage.
"One of the things I’ve always prided myself in is that I’m effective in that role.”
Many of college football’s most powerful programs are attempting to woo Pili.
“Schools from the Pac-12, the Mountain West and conferences like that have offered," Pili said. "I don’t have any visits set up right now, but I’m at the point where I’m going to start to schedule some visits.”
Although Pili’s recruitment is still in the early stages, he knows what he is looking for in a prospective school.
“I want to go to a place that plays an attacking defense that gets the linebackers where they can get downhill and attack the ball carrier," Pili said.
“Besides that, faith is a major part of my life and wherever I go it’s going to be to a place where I can further myself academically, athletically and spiritually.”
