“Arizona, ASU, Washington and Boise State and the LA schools are some of the places that I’m going to look at,” Allen said. “I can get to USC and UCLA whenever I want. I like both places. The other visits I will have to set up.”
The visits will play a crucial role in the 6-foot-4, 260-pound lineman's decision making process.
“To me, a lot is going to be about location and talking to the players," Allen said. "I mean, seriously, coaches are going to tell me whatever they want.
"I put a lot of stock into what the players feel and how the every day atmosphere plays out. I can gather a lot of what I need from that.
“I also want to see what a practice and work out routine looks like. How serious is everybody about getting better? Is there a good camaraderie?”
Allen envisions making a quick transition to the next level.
“All the schools recruiting me think I can come in and make a pretty quick impact," he said. "I just need to find that scheme that is good for me.
"Since I graduated high school, I’ve been able to get better each year and a big reason for that is I’m in a good scheme right now where we chase down the football.
“I really want to be able to build on what I’ve been able to do since I entered junior college. I’ve learned so much and I can feel myself getting better all the time. I can only imagine what Division I will be like.”
