It would be no surprise if Upper Marlboro (Md.) DeMatha Catholic guard Markelle Fultz becomes the next 2016 UA recruit to commit somewhere and Sean Miller is doing his best to steer Fultz in Arizona’s direction.
“Sean looks at Markelle as the kind of guy who can come in and play the point guard and play it the right way,” said Fultz’s mentor Keith Williams.
“We’ve worked with him to where he can handle the ball against pressure and he can get to the rack when he needs to. We’re really excited to get to the point this July where every coach can see what he’s all about against the best.”
Fultz will be visiting Tucson soon.
“We’ll get out to Arizona in August," Williams said. "We were going to go out there earlier, but all sides kind of decided that it would be better to delay the decision a bit so that the visit can be a little fresher in his mind before he makes the decision.
“Arizona is one of those schools that you see how they play and how many guys they put in the NBA. Coach Miller does it and it obviously speaks for itself.
"Plus we love the tempo that Coach Miller runs. We mainly just want to go there and see what an every day is like for each player and how everyone gets along and what campus life is like.”
One way or the other this recruitment is winding down.
“Oh, he’s not that far away from a choice," Williams said. "Between schools in his area like Louisville or places like that, he’s got a lot of options. I would guess by then we will know where Kentucky is going. We’re not waiting forever on any team then.”
