Recruiting Reset: Defensive line

Arizona has identified a handful of prospects as the top priority on the defensive line. Read on to see who those players are and where Arizona stands with each.

Arizona recently made the cut for Weaver and is in as good of shape as anybody. Despite narrowing his list down, it does not appear that Weaver is in any rush and he will be taking his official visits. Figuring Arizona gets one, it is likely to be in this recruitment until the end.

The Wildcats are among the schools to beat and may actually lead in this recruitment, although Murray plays things quietly. If Arkansas offers, that may change things up a bit, but Arizona is in solid shape for now. Murray will be on campus on July 18 and it would not be a surprise to see Arizona push for a commitment.

Allen is another player visiting July 18 and a commitment is a possibility when you consider how highly he is speaking about the coaching staff. When you look at what Arizona needs and how good Allen is, you can make an argument he is as important as any player in the class. Oregon has started to become more aggressive, as have a few others, but Arizona is the school to beat right now.

Arizona, Boise State, and Vanderbilt are the three schools on top for Burton, though UCLA just offered and is probably in there as well. There is a good chance Burton visits July 18 and considering he wants to decide in late July or August, the coaching staff could pursue a commitment.

Murphy is easily the biggest longshot on this list, though Arizona is doing better than some may think. That doesn’t mean it is in good shape to land him, but anything can happen if the coaching staff hangs around long enough. As of now we would be surprised if he comes to Arizona, but the coaching staff is trying to surprise.
