“It was just time to commit,” Allen said. “I wasn’t going to wait around for any other schools to offer me. I always knew that I liked Arizona, but the visit just did it for me.
“I like all the coaches. They just let me know that they really needed more guys like me and that they were going to need me to come in and be ready. I don’t have time to waste, so that is the kind of stuff I wanted to hear.
“The campus was beautiful and even in the summer you could tell that it was the kind of place where things were going on.”
Allen’s versatility provides Arizona with scheme flexibility.
“The coaches said they think I can give them different options," Allen said. "I need to get stronger, but I can go in there and play the pass rusher position and also get the edge on the run game.”
The future four-star plans on giving it all for the Wildcats.
“I’m much more prepared to play than I was even a couple years ago," Allen said. "Sure, I’m stronger, but I just understand the game at a much better level.
"I’ve got good coaches here who have shown me the techniques and best way to use quickness to get past the offensive line and to consistently get in the quarterback’s face. Junior College has been really good to me."
Does Allen have a message for the Arizona fans?
“My only message is that I’m going to go in there and try to play and work at the game my hardest," he said. "Hopefully, we can get Arizona to that next level.”
