Spots are filling up quickly for the 2016 Arizona football recruiting class, and many experts expect Dodge City (Kan.) Community College defensive back Elijah Battle to be one of the next players to commit.
An older prospect, Battle has the look of a player who would be able to come in and play immediately.
“The coaching staff has been really good to me and they’ve done a great job of talking with me the entire time and letting me just know where I stand,” Battle said.
“They think I can help out at the cornerback position, but also move over to free safety a bit if needed. I’ve always been a pretty flexible football player that can do a lot, so that was good to see."
Battle recently visited Arizona and came away impressed.
“As far as the school goes, man, it’s a great place," he said. "A lot of beauty out there and a good atmosphere. It’s hot, but a good hot and it seems like it’s just a good community feel there.
"It wasn’t a difficult place to imagine going to school to for the next few seasons.”
As of now, Battle isn’t sure where his recruitment will take him from here.
“I don’t have any visits set up and I’m not sure when everything will end, but I do have an idea of where I’m going to end up," he said.
"I just needed to make sure everything is the right fit first. It’s a great feeling knowing that I will be playing major college football here very soon.”
