Howard continuing to emerge

Markus Howard is one of the top guards in the west in 2017. Read on for an update on his recruitment, including which schools are recruiting him the hardest.

2017 point guard Markus Howard has not arrived to Las Vegas Findlay Prep just yet, but when he does, he is looking forward to improving his game.

“I am moving to Findlay at the end of August,” Howard said. “I am in constant contact with the coaches and have seen the school plenty of times. It is always something I wanted to do, so I am really excited.”

This won’t be Howard’s first introduction to better competition, as he spent the spring and summer on the EYBL circuit with the Las Vegas Prospects.

“The summer went great,” he said. “The spring was really good for me and playing for USA basketball and Peach Jam were great for me.

“Ever since I played in the EYBL, my recruitment has been growing and I have been getting my name out there.”

Howard won’t name any favorites, but does point to a handful of schools recruiting him the hardest.

“Arizona State, Baylor, Indiana, Marquette, and Arizona are coming at me the hardest,” he said. “I separate them by looking at my relationship with the coaching staff and then also just the type of school it is academically as well as being a basketball school, if there is a lot of fan support.”

In addition, Howard hopes a school will emerge on his visits.

“When I go on visits I am helping create relationships and getting closer with the coaches and just getting to know each campus better,” he said.

At this point, there isn’t a decision coming any time soon.

“I probably won’t make a decision until the end of my junior year or even going into my senior year,” Howard said.
